Un-seeded Glenn Coburn & Mark Needham were crowned champions in the Over 40’s Men’s Doubles at the Cumbrian Vets Championships played at the Sands Leisure Centre in Carlisle last Saturday.

Having overcome the seeded pair of Mark Golds (Cheshire) and John Austin (Hertfordshire) in the group stage and topping their group with 3 wins they then went on to win 2nd seeds Julian Priestley (Yorkshire) and John Cooper (Derbyshire) 21-12 21-10.

In the final a battle of the roses saw Coburn and Needham overcome the Lancastrian pair of Andrew Fairhurst and Phillip Price 21-16, 21-11
